Post: Investing in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria

Good day Luis,

I posed a question awhile back (before Maria) in regards to interests in PR.

I have been in contact with several different people in the real estate industry and while they say it's slow moving people are selling and flipping (average turn around 6-8 months).  Not at a crazy pace but homes are being sold.   I'm looking into rebuilding communities especially those on main roads and close to attractions.

Right now I am working on assembling a team:

Real Estate Agents

Real Estate Attorneys

CPA's

General Contractors

Lenders

@Tim Jones, Many thanks for that google tip.  I'll check that blog out.

@Luis A. Escudero Burgos , stay in touch and I'll keep you posted on the progress.  The more people are interested in flipping homes in PR makes me believe the recovery can happen faster than expected.   Have to get a better grip on the tax laws and totally understand the PR home flipping system.

Stay tuned.....

Looking for feedback good or bad on experiences you may have had with real estate on the Island.

Good morning BP group,

I trust all is well,

I have a nephew who is interested in real estate training in Connecticut.

Does anyone know of a real estate school he can research in CT preferably Hartford County.

Please advise,

@Brett Snodgrass, Many thanks for the words of encouragement.  I just hate to be one that sits back and does nothing like many others that I know which go on to social media boards and vent about the issues.  Right now it's just thoughts before the Action.  Stay Tuned...

Good day all,

I trust all is well,

I was born in Ponce PR and grew up in Hartford CT. I moved to N Miami beach in '06 and travel to PR once a year.  On my last visit I felt a sense of urgency to try and help the island recover in someway but I believe this is deeper than most of us know. The elderly are being left to fend for themselves and when they pass away the properties go abandoned since many of their children who moved back to the mainland do not plan to ever move back.   I am just baffled how an Island with an average income of 19K has a sales tax of 11% when the state of CT which is one of the richest in the US has a sales tax of 6%.  (I guess that debt has to be paid off by someone)

I would love to fix up some of the abandoned communities and convert many to gated communities I just have to do more research and analysis on the economy/recovery.

Many thanks for adding me to your group and for your time ,
