I would second this question! If there is anything, I'd love to know. Or perhaps if there's enough interest we could start our own meetup?

Hey, guys -

I'm in a similar spot to Chris... just getting going and exploring options. Not sure which direction I want to go just yet, but I'd love to connect with you guys since we're all in the valley.

Hope to chat more!

@Claudia Almaraz - I'm new to the world of REI, but I live in downtown Gilbert area (Heritage District) and there is a ton of new development happening here. My primary residence was actually a remodel - purchased in Nov. 2016 and the value has gone up since then. Lots of opportunity, I think, in this area as rehab opportunities come on the market. I think the only downside is the number of investors trying to snatch them up. I'm hoping to get some rentals in this area (long term and/or short term)... if I can be of help in any way as boots on the ground, feel free to connect!

@Doug McVinua - Sounds like you've built up an awesome portfolio locally. I'd love to connect at some point and hear more about your journey. Any broad advice for a new investor in the area looking for buy and hold rental opportunities?

Hey @Matt Motil - thanks! That's funny, I lived in Power Ranch for 3 years... about a year and a half ago I moved right into the downtown area. Tons of growth there lately and lots of flips going on down there.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hey @Bob Okenwa

Thanks for the welcome! That is great advice - I am definitely planning to look into the local events and try to start making connections. I definitely have the sponge mentality right now.

Best!

Hello BP community! My name is Jordan Duvall, and I'm currently based in Gilbert, AZ (just outside of Phoenix) and I'm just a new student looking to learn. I came across BP organically, as I've always had an interest in personal finance (specifically financial independence through frugal living - love the Mr. Money Mustache and Frugalwoods blogs).

I am new to the world of REI, and looking for the right way to just "dive in" and start learning. I'm trying to find the balance of learning as much as I can - primarily through reading, researching and listening to the BP podcasts - and just getting started, knowing that I'll learn a ton as I go.

Long term goal is to get involved with enough buy and hold rentals to generate passive income and, ideally, financial freedom. Short term is to do my first deal before 2018 is over. I have lots of questions around building a team, what various partnerships look like etc., but at this point I mostly want to keep digging and trying to meet and talk to people in the area (or here on the forums) that have been there, done that.

I look forward to wherever the journey takes me, and to connecting with a great network of like-minded people. Thanks to all the BP folks and this community for the awesome resource!

Anyone interested in connecting, feel free to reach out.
