@Cynthia L. Smith

You are right, the chances of getting a home for that cheap in those areas are probably impossible I haven’t seen them in that area but they are nice investment areas because a lot of people are buying in those areas and yes you can find homes in Detroit for cheap and may not be as bad as people would think. Yes they will need work done to them but some of those homes are livable if you find the right seller/person as well. I love Detroit though I feel like it needs work and time but with the right people it could be back to where it was back then.

The house I was referring to is in 48234 zip code which isn’t the best neighborhood but someone had bought the house. There were others in like 48205 zip code. They are few and far between but they are out there. The neighborhoods definitely needs work but I just think that maybe in due time with the right people and hard work and community just bringing the inner parts of Detroit back to life.

@Joe Hammel

Yes I feel the same way,I feel like Metro Detroit is a lot easier to manage and a good ROI as well. But the city is great investment as well too and you're right it is riskier but I would mind a challenge. I feel like everywhere you go is an investment opportunity. That's why I love it.

I’m sorry they aren’t in the best neighborhoods but it’s a lot of renters in that area and honestly I stay in the city of Detroit. I stay here and yes sometimes they aren’t in the best looking neighborhoods but the house for 5600 was a house listed on my block in Detroit and my block is pretty peaceful and quiet. It’s actually a lot of older people by me too. But hey I definitely understand not wanting to buy there. Just a suggestion again. But if you ever do some really good neighborhoods in Detroit are rosedale Park, Palmer Park area/university district and Boston Edison to name a few. Those are good neighborhoods in Detroit if you ever decide that you want to invest here.

Never said I was selling a property just said that I saw one going for about $5600 that didn’t really need a lot of work and you’re right they aren’t in the best neighborhoods but in those areas people are more so renting than buying property. If people are looking for rentals then that may not be a bad option.

Hi Rassan, I was merely just stating what I see in the market and if you were to have a partner here in Michigan to help you since you inquired. I wasn’t saying that you should go for it on your own. And yes those properties aren’t in the best neighborhoods but those neighborhoods are filled with a lot of renters rather than buyers.

I highly advise you to stay in Troy. I said if he had someone here to help him manage the properties then it wouldn’t be a bad thing for him to do. I stay in the city of Detroit and just don’t try to sell homes here. I have people asking me about properties all the time and I was actually shocked myself to see some houses going for that cheap and still be liveable. Reading is so fundamental.

Hi Rassan, I am a realtor here in Detroit and yes there can be hassles when buying property for that amount if you are out of state. But if you has someone here to help you manage your properties then that would be a great start. But there are some properties here in Detroit going for about $7,000-$10,000 and they need work done but may still be livable. I recently saw one for about 5600 and it really didn’t need much work from the beginning but again it depends on the area too.

Has anyone considered purchasing investment properties in Michigan?
