hi john, I specialize in retail real estate in the metro dc area.  I don't think it makes sense to pick a smaller brokerage firm just because the property is small.  The key is to pick the right broker/brokerage firm.  First you need to make sure your broker/firm specializes in retail.  What I mean by that is that is ALL they do.  Then you need to interview them.  There are plenty of good brokers in Baltimore specializing in retail.  If you'd like, please shoot me a private note and I'd be happy to discuss further with you.
