Hi Beth S. , welcome! I know this is probably a little late but here is a good forum you should follow if you're still interested in the KC market... Hello, I've been out of the Bigger Pockets network for a couple years now and am finally getting back to it. My wife and I are looking to rent our current single family home (VA loan) and to purchase/rent our first multi-family home (with remainder of our VA) by 2018. Before we get into it full force, I'd like to make sure we are part of a good support network. Wondering who is meeting up in the Kansas City, Independence, Blue Springs, Missouri areas and hoping I could invite myself into a group or two? I'll also be posting soon in the advice section for help with the VA process for purchasing a second home (in this case multi-family) so if you have experience in this area, advice would be greatly appreciated! Hoping to meet some of you soon! -Jake

Christopher R. thats exactly my question as I am also a newb looking to buy my first property. Maybe having a general contractor on call would help? Take them to look at potential purchases? Seems to be a useful tool for flips. Interested in seeing what others think/say. -Jake

Ryan Dossey , I have been researching this as well. After talking to a buddy who was an agent, it seems like an online program is viewed as less desirable than an in residence type school. He told me that you are a lot less competitive with an online certification. Maybe others can chime in and tell us if that's true or not? As for the cost, it looked like it would be $850 total in Missouri for the education and licensing. Depends on the school. That does not include any brokerage fees though. Best of luck, Jake

@D'Mark Poole is the $150k coming straight from your broker or have you done your own checks on the comps to verify? And is it MLS listed?

@Josh Wilkins

Welcome! Part of me envies that commute....I struggle to find the time for more than a podcast a week (when I'm lucky). Best of luck on the move and your future REI endeavors!

@William Sackett  Welcome! The number of people and amount of info seems formidable, but jump right into the podcasts, forums, and/or blog posts!  You'll love it in no time!

@William Robison that's exactly our plan!  We also plan to update/renovate each unit we live in before we purchase our next x-plex.

@Tyler Knott Thanks!  I am currently looking/screening for both a solid real estate broker and mortgage broker who are well respected in the local area.  Anyone you would recommend?

To everyone else, thanks for the warm welcome!  Looking forward to meeting/talking to you all on a regular basis!
