Hi @Tim Johnson!

Thanks for replying! Even if I want to focus more on design, I should still have a construction license? I never thought about that.. I’m not opposed to it.

Hi @Aaron K.!

Thank you for your reply and tips about doing my due dilligence first & obtaining permits. I don’t plan to start this business right away, I want to definitely gain the experience and knowledge first, which I know will take a few years.

I’m interested in starting a Custom Building and Luxury Remodeling Company. I’m new to investing but I’m willing to start flipping first with smaller projects to educate myself more. I live in the Philly area so I know that there are certain laws specific to each regions for license requirements to start a building business. I don’t have a construction background, my plan is to partner or hire a construction team and I would focus more on the designing and business management. My plan is to purchase my own properties/land, build or restore and resell and then offer my services to other investors or property owners.

I know my next steps should be forming the business and choosing the legal entity. Getting my insurance in place etc,. But I’m not sure where to begin after that... I just started my research so I’m not sure where to go or who to talk to to find out more information.

Can companies or small businesses invest in REITs or any stocks at all? I’ve been doing some research about investing in REITs but not seeing much regarding companies investing.
