My rule of thumb for property taxes in Indianapolis...

Budget 2.5% of the assessed value. I realize the cap in Indiana is 2% on rental properties, but special assessments drive this number north.

Also, while I've read some horror stories about assessed value increases, our personal portfolio came out relatively unscathed during this recent batch of tax bills. We're concentrated in the Meridian-Kessler/Broad Ripple areas.

I'm curious how other investors did in Indianapolis and surrounding counties.

@Nick Giulioni is a good contact. From all accounts, he's building a great GC Business.

@coryking Can you send me a direct link? I'd love to review that.

And, wow, you are right! Tons of bear decorations out there... LOL

@katie Haman - No, I haven't found much information at all. I have some very anecdotal evidence that bookings are fine and that some initial numbers that came from BP concerning Sevierville in particular weren't accurate.

Hello everyone - we're starting to look for a mountain cabin to use as both a vacation home and a STR. Would love to discuss some strategy here with anyone who has experience in this area. Thanks in advance!

These are certainly some crazy times we are in and as a real estate brokerage and property management company, there are a lot of question marks.

Here is some insight into what we're seeing right now, but obviously, the situation seems to be changing by the day.

I thought this personal experience of mine might be an interesting read for some of you other real estate investors out there.
