south orange is going up and up and up. Blooomfield and east orange could be good spots to look.

Thanks Sedrick Chin for starting this chain. My husband and I are in a similar boat and have been considering a flip instead of buy and hold but haven't been able to find within our price range with a large enough spread (under $350). Darren Sager I'm curious what your thoughts are for a buy and hold in union instead.

My husband and I are looking to do a flip in northern nj in class a locations. I'm curious how others have sought deals in an area with high costs and high property taxes but great appreciation. Also, in looking for strategies to minimize closing costs and taxes on the resale so that the profit is worth it. Any suggestions on finding a buyer by fsbo or other ways to minimize costs? We want to sell the property in 5 months. Any tax strategies to minimize capital gains costs? Thank you in advance.

Welcome! It's great your starting early! I would check to see if there are any meet up groups in your area. It's great to network. Also check out the forum to post questions. I would suggest start by setting goals and deciding what type of property your looking to invest in. Then I would drive around the neighborhoods you are considering to really get to know the area.
