@Erin Auman. Networking is a skill you can improve on just like real estate. Listen to podcasts ON networking, read books and put yourself out there.

I’ve been in a sales field my entire career and those situations only get better by doing it. If you’re in a hotel and you share an elevator with somebody introduce yourself. It may be awkward and they may think it was a strange encounter but you’ll be better off next time.

Networking is a skill that can be developed like any other.

@Kyle Mccaw This is great! Do you have a contractor you always use on a regular basis? Just getting started in DFW area and my concern is estimating rehab costs accurately.

@Dmitriy Fomichenko thank you for the links! I’ve already been consuming the podcast as much as possible but will check out the other links tonight!

@Lucia Rushton  I have just a little in two deals that are deferred so haven't seen returns yet but I'm actually about to invest in one that is a monthly payment that closes in about two weeks so that should give me some better insight on how that process works!

Brand new to real estate investing. I've been starting with some small investments in some crowdfunded sites such as Grounfloor while I get the capital together for my first deal.  I live in the DFW area and travel all over North Texas/LA/OK/AR for work so I have good exposure to different markets.  When I'm interested in something I throw myself into it fully and I am reading/listening/consuming everything I can about real estate at the moment.

I'm looking at my first major investment as a possible turnkey property but am open to other ideas. Hoping to be able to make my first big deal early 2020. Would love to connect with fellow Texans or anybody willing to share knowledge.
