Hi folks of the BiggerPockets forum! I am Jeff Zhou, a beginner buy and hold investor in Boston area of Massachusetts.
I have been reading some posts in the forum, peeking at other member's profile and listening to the awesome podcast for a few weeks. For some reason, my insecurity drove me to understand more what is going on here before jumping in for a completely lame introduction (this could still be lame, of course :D ).
Unlike a lot of people, I am not an aggressive investor at all (or maybe my impression of the forum was mostly given by the aggressive ones who tend to post more). I have a full time job that I absolutely love, and I won't retire anytime before 60 even if I have the money to do so (or until I die if I still can perform the same quality of work). What I am looking for is purely investment, likely buying and holding a stock, but better. My goal is to buy and hold new rental properties every few years . I want to try to minimize my time spending on property management by learning all the basics of being a good landlord, from reading all the good books and of course from this forum and all of you. At the same time please feel free to ping me for anything and I'll try my best to help.
I currently own a 2-bedroom condo in Malden with my wife and I living in one bedroom and the other bedroom rented out. I bought the condo because it is close to work both for me and my wife. I am negotiating a deal to buy a multifamily in Worcester MA. My realtor who also owns rental properties will work for me for tenant procurement, but I am still looking for good references of local handymen & contractors.
In my leisure time I love doing a lot of things:
- Video gaming (big fan, only have too little time to play :( )
- Music & Movie
- Walking & playing with my dog (a one year old sweet but sometimes rebellious husky)
- Hiking & traveling with my wife
- Classical guitar
Look forward to getting to know you guys in the forum!
