Welcome @Matthew Mirkin

I hope you aren't too overwhelmed by it all. I started flipping 7 months ago in Los Angeles and my head was spinning trying to figure it all out. We now have our third flip on the market and have built a great team that has helped us learn the ropes and set us up for future success. Im glad to pass along any help, as people have done it for me including the great people here on bigger pockets. Best of luck!

@Jenna Stark

Welcome to BP. I'm a former Texan living in LA now. Lived in Montgomery and went to Baylor. Both Texas and California have their opportunities. In fact, I will be investing in both (back in Texas) in the near future. Good luck!

@Jon Huber

I don't know how I missed this but I am bummed I couldn't be there. Instead I went to an inspection on one of our houses that just went into escrow and showed up to find someone sawed off my lockbox and broke into the house!  I would have much rather been hanging with you fine people. :) Please keep me in the loop for the next meet up.

welcome @Justin Smith I'm a neighbor. I am also investing both here in Southern California and hopefully soon in Texas. Why specifically are you looking at Austin area for your SFRs?

@Chad U.

I believe you maybe talking about Auction.com's online auctions, which are different then their trustee sale auctions. If it is a live auction (LA county is in Norwalk at a hotel) then it is the trustee sale and you will have to have funds in person.

Josh Ridener is this a trustee sale auction? If it is something like auction.com or courthouse step auction you will not have the ability to go to the bank and will have to have the full amount on you prior to bidding. The best way to do this is to have several different amount cashier checks. (Try to keep it in amounts where you can be within a few thousand of winning bid at most) You will be refunded any overage when you receive the deed from the trustee. Good luck!
