BP's The Book on Managing Rental Properties and Landlording on Autopilot are two great books to check out!

If you plan to occupy the unit, VA loans are a great option (0% down!). Also, listen to BP Podcast 183. The guest is one example of service members succeeding as investors!

Hello everyone! I'm John Delosreyes, an instructor pilot living in Del Rio, TX. I stumbled upon BP browsing through several personal finance and investing subreddits. I'm brand new to REI and am impressed with the number of resources this website provides (attended my first webinar today!).

I'm currently active duty Air Force and want to get into REI for the passive income and build a portfolio so when I eventually leave active duty I will have a well-established flow of income to sit back and spend more time with family.

I have been reading books, listened to podcasts, and watched previous webinars on the site. I feel purchasing multifamily properties is a good niche for me. With a handful of PCS’s in the foreseeable future, house-hacking may be a good strategy to employ. Currently, I’m looking into the Del Rio and San Antonio markets.

I’m looking forward to being involved with you all and hopefully return the knowledge/experiences with new members to the site!
