In the county, for instance, a hot tub does require a permit (https://wp.sbcounty.gov/ezop/p...).

Thanks for the heads up, and you’re right! We are not in the unincorporated area and we fall into yucca valley. Either way, it seems we need it also in Yucca Valley. Thank you!

Paul Osterman is the best one to talk to, and he’s not there every day but usually between 7:30 AM and 9 AM. That’s when the inspectors are in the office and not out in the field. I think also from 1 to 2 PM. I would call and check because since Covid they may have changed things. I used to do a lot of new construction but it’s been a while.

you are a treasure trove of information! Do you know if a hot tub requires a permit? We are having a hard time reaching building and safety- emails and vmails, but we see so many STRs with hot tubs, and was wondering if it requires permitting. Thanks in advance!

There has been a lot more activity now in Yucca Valley...my dad owns a dozen long term home rentals and since I manage them, I see the notices coming in the mail because you have to notify every owner within 300'. Yes, as stated by someone else, you can get your listing up but just not make it live yet. I see others doing that, however, you will want the best photos possible.  @Phillip Kim, if you want hosting help, someone very good that is local is Katie at Desert Hosts. It's a family run business and they are local and very helplful and knowledgeable.

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely getting busy. We are remodelling our first one in Yucca Valley, but it seems we have to get going on the permitting!

Worked with Hunter Caldwell in Yucca Valley. He is busy, though but will come out and quote you and is honest about the timeline.

I'm looking over the application now and it is shockingly thorough (see the list of submittal requirements below - eek!).

hi Katy! Did you ever get this done? What are the updates? They are appreciated! Thank you!

did you have a hot tub? If so, did it need to be permitted? I am getting mixed research answers in yucca!

@Karl B. Nice! Naps and a date. Sounds like a good Monday.

Sweet gig with the mansion. Matt Barnes didn't buy the mansion in woodland hills. He bought one in Encino down the street from me. Seen him around town, but not since covid. Thanks for responding!

But honestly, covid happening. I am a RN so I still worked, but i stayed home for about 3 months during the height of it bc our daycare was closed and then I didnt want to bring my son back at first. And I dont live near any family and my husband was deployed so I couldnt quarantine if I did get exposed from my 18 month old. But I did enjoy being home and was kind of researching at nights financial freedom and real estate always came up. Have had a rental property for years now and was like duh, lets do more.

So cool! I, myself, is STILL doing the grind in healthcare (therapist), and while I do love the job, sometimes I wonder why i still have to "ask" for a day off, or "ask" if I can have a day for doctors appointments for myself. I get how COVID can put things into perspective as well. While everyone gets to work from home, I'm in the frontline day in and day out doing my part, but there is a piece of me that understands that I should not be, and I should also look out for myself and my loved ones.

Congrats on the rental! how many do you have now?!
