Hi Linda,

Have you had any progress finding a mentor at the GaREIA meetings?

Thank you so much for the info, @Paul Timmins! I'll check these links out. I haven't given it much thought, but there is a major university 30 minutes from where I live that could be a hotbed for student housing. What would you say are the better types of properties for student housing for someone starting out? Multifamily, single family, townhomes, etc?

Welcome to BP Gregory! Great idea. With the growth that KSU is seeing, this can certainly be a lucrative investment. From the top of my head, read the Georgia Landlord Tenant Handbook, 2012 for basics. I'm sure this website has everything you need to know as far how to set up a lease agreement, escrow accounts for deposits, set up rent payment systems, etc. I believe Brandon Turner has a book on how to invest in rentals.

Hello, Bigger Pockets community! This is a very exciting experience for me since I am almost completely new to Real Estate investing. I am definitely eager to learn and grow in this business and achieve financial freedom through RE investing. I currently live in the Greater Atlanta area in the state of Georgia where there seems to be plenty of RE investing opportunities and plenty of future growth. I have read through some great posts by Brandon Turner and Chad Carson and am in the process of purchasing some of the books and resources they and others here at the BP community have recommended. As part of the education phase of this journey, my goal is to find/work with a mentor in the next month or two to learn the ins and outs of this business. I would greatly appreciate your input and suggestions, and if you're in the same area as me, give me a shout out to get connected!
