Post: Investment Opportunity in Texas

I was looking into doing out-of-state rentals and considering texas- although debating between Frisco/Mckinney, Austin, and SA. Austin and Frisco's numbers look difficult, so wanted to learn more about San Antonio or Mckinney- the locations to target, the current market trends etc. Any recommendations on which city would be a better option to consider for properties around 300k for long-term buy and hold with good cash flow?

What are your thoughts on buying single family house vs townhomes vs renting in Chicago. I wanted to buy vs rent to put money in equity but the Illinois tax is so high that it equates to ~8 months of rent. Townhomes are better in terms of tax but hoa makes it even. Are we just breaking even If we invest as a primary residence?

good point. It's actually for primary and not investment.

Thanks Mike. I wanted to see if there are any recommended ones in Chicago sub urbs area.

Hello - I'm planning to buy a town home in Chicago northwest suburbs. I find the prices to be competitive but also most of the homes were in market for quite some time (6 months or more).

I was wondering if this is a buyers market and a right time to invest? ALso, how to find the right deals and negotiate? I'm looking at paletine/arlington heights/hoffman estates/wheeling/buffalo grove areas if that helps.

Thanks,

Jay

Thanks everyone for the great replies.

@Ahmed Motiwala

Can you elaborate this please? "There are some nuisances that have to be ironed out to actually use the suggested HOA contingency"

Planning to buy a property in chicago suburbs - hoffman estates/palatine area. I will be planning to live for few years and then convert it into rental property. I liked a few townhomes but most of them have rental caps with wait times. The ones that doesn't have are also planning to bring them in future(per their prev hoa meeting notes). Is there a way to find ones with no rental cap or is single family homes the only option here if I have rental plans for future?
