I found the Beginner's Guide rec'd by @Mark Nolan very helpful, @Anthony Jackson. I'm still in beginner stages myself and it can feel a bit overwhelming especially if you're not a "numbers" or finance person (which I am not). Try to read a lot on this site. I have a loose goal of logging on to here once a week, reading a couple of real estate books rec'd by a BP member, and trying to find a good deal analysis spreadsheet that works for me so I can start running properties through it from the RDU area where I'd like to buy a SFH (single family home). Will ramp up from there. Good luck!

Hi, my name is Jasmine. I'm from the Raleigh-Durham area and have been living in San Francisco for the last several years. I visit family in Raleigh (Morrisville) often. Except for helping my brother buy a townhouse in Morrisville, I am a complete newbie in real estate and excited to learn and be a part of this community. Don't know if I can contribute much at this point, but glad to help if I can. I work as an appellate public defender, which is fulfilling work but not so financially rewarding. :-) My goal is to buy my first property in either of these two markets. I currently live in a rent-controlled apartment (thank goodness) and have a great relationship with my property manager. I probably wouldn't be able to afford to buy something here for myself to live in, so I got interested in buying an investment property instead.
