What Samuel is getting at here is that you may want to consider incorporating to protect yourself. I've been incorporated (C Corp) for over 10 years and it has helped me greatly in my business ventures. If someone wants to sue you for whatever-your corporation is what they would sue, thereby protecting your personal assets. There are also many tax advantages to incorporation. If you have an attorney, speak with him/her about it. You could also speak with your CPA about it as well.

This REI group was only recently formed back in February, I think. It looks to be legitimate and I asked the founder to contact me with more information. Looks like they meet once a month, towards the end of the month. I'll keep you posted!

I would like to get together with investors from the Spring Hill and Hudson Florida area. I would like to know if there are any REIA in this area or meetings of some type for investors in this area?

Hi! I'm new to this forum and a new (sort of) Investor. I say sort of because I have done a couple of deals over the past 10 years but have never made it a full time endeavor. I would like to start though. So, I just wanted to say hello to all out there and I will be looking and reading these forums from time to time. I hope to learn a lot from you seasoned professionals!

If you have enough equity in your home you could take out a second mortgage but be careful because if you default on that loan, you could be losing your home as well.
