Would love some advice on politely offering a purchase price much lower than asking price. My fiancée and I are looking to seller finance our first home. The neighborhood that we have chosen is on the up and up (in Charleston, SC). We have located a great house to rehab with an owner willing to seller finance for the right terms. However, her father built the home and she is very sentimentally attached to the property - causing her to have unrealistic expectations of the property’s value ($200k above comps!). I told her I would email her this week with thoughts on the home. Should I just simply tell her I’m not interested anymore? Or should I send a comp list with a reasonable offer?

Hello everyone,

I’m currently finishing up law school and am interested in getting started in investing in real estate. Ideally, I would like to only practice for ten years before putting my head down and working on my portfolio full time. In the mean time, I plan on slowly acquiring doors. I was wondering if there are any attorneys on here with advice for investing with a JD in your back pocket? I understand the MRPC may limit my ability to work with a partner somewhat - and was wondering if anyone has had any issues regarding the unauthorized practice of law. Any advice, guidance, or reading materials would be appreciated and if you’re in the area (Charleston, SC) I would love to connect.

@Eduardo Conde Hey Eduardo! I am a third year law student residing in Charleston. I would suggest Jensen and Farrell as your real estate attorney. (843) 762 - 0980.
