Hey @Tom Tam - Sorry we weren't able to make it last night. My 1 year old was in the ER the other night with RSV so we've been dealing with that :(

Do you have these meet ups monthly? Is there another one coming up we can attend? We would love to get on a list if you have one. Thanks!

Yes take advantage of the package that offers the most studying material for the exam (dvd, flash cards, etc.) and you should be good. If my memory serves me core you only have to wait 18 days in between to move on to the next course so you can get it done pretty quick. There is a wait with the State right now of about 6-8 weeks for your application to get processed and given approval to take the exam so use that time to study!

Hi Michael, I just recently completed the CA required courses online through Allied Business School (www.alliedschools.com) which I highly recommend if you go the online route. I chose to do online as I have 2 small kids and work from home so this was just easier for me. As you know you do have to be disciplined to get the courses completed but it’s nice that you can do them at your own pace if you have other things going on. If you learn better with live instruction and other classmates then definitely go that route. I think it’s just whatever works best for your situation. Education wise I don’t feel like I missed anything by doing it online on my own. Allied has great customer service, online portal and provided great material for studying for the exam. Let me know if you have any other questions, I’d be happy to help! Good luck! Jamie

@Wes Blackwell wow great info! My husband and I are in Tracy and actually looking at Stockton as a local possibility so this info is very helpful. Tracy is growing steadily and they just broke ground on the Tracy Hills which is a 5,411 acre development. It will be interesting to see what that does to the value of our homes here.

@Katie L. great info! Thank you so much!! This will help me get started as I'm not tax savvy at all :)

I would love some names of attorneys if you wouldn't mind sending them my way. Entity formation is next on our list so getting a knowledgeable attorney on board would be great.

Thanks again!

Good morning all! Newbie here and my husband and I are ready to start forming our team. We have an appointment for a consult with a CPA this morning and another later this week so I wanted to see if there were some MUST ASK questions in determining if they will be a good fit? We live in Northern California and will be looking to invest in out of state rentals to build a rental portfolio. We would also like to do a few flips but haven’t decided if those will be done out of state yet. We are still deciding how we will finance our first deal - we have a 401k we could potentially work with, HELOC, as well as my parents providing funds for a down payment, so I’m assuming they will have to partners?? Any input would be much appreciated!
