Afternoon everyone!

Been looking to get into REI for about a year while consuming books, podcasts, and learning as much as I can. Very thankful to Bigger Pockets and the books they've published.

I'm looking to continue to network with REA's, Contractors, Lenders, & PMs in the KC Metro. I live in Overland Park, KS now, but I'm eager to learn from some REI rockstars (to quote David Greene 😁)!

Looking forward to meeting some of you to help build each other's networks. I'm newer now but want to learn about how I can help others to create win-win situations.

TIA!

James

@Andrea Shadd

Resurrecting an old thread here, but here’s my question...

I’m considering getting into Buy & Hold Rentals with my Dad and younger brother. My Dad’s an attorney and residential contractor (on the side) who’s done multiple fix and flips.

Any advice on how to structure this business?

What are some non negotiable upfront expectations that need to be set?

Are there any examples of successful rental property businesses with family ownership?

What are the main topics we should discuss before jumping into this?

What are the major pitfalls to watch out for?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I see this as a great long term investment for all 3 of us and an excuse to spend more time with my bro and Dad. Thanks!!
