Hello!  I'm going into my last year of grad school.  I've been working full time and paying my way through up to this point.  However I'm considering taking out a loan at 5.8% and paying that way instead of paying cash out of pocket.  My thought is with using the loan I could stockpile more cash quicker in order to put a downpayment on a home when I find one.  Thoughts?  Thank you!

My parents gave me 10k for my first Down payment on a house. I don’t know when that is going to happen, hopefully soon..Suggestions on what to do with the 10k until I need it for that DP? Thanks!

Hey thanks for your replies! Really appreciate ya'll responding. As practical first steps I'm going to go to a local REIA in my area and talk to a mortgage lender in Bemidji. I'm beginning to look for an opportunity to house hack outside of seattle a bit where housing is a little more affordable.

Hi! I'm James.  This is my first post on BP!! I'm in grad school In Seattle and working full time to pay my way through.
I'm brand new to real estate investing. Just finished Rich Dad Poor Dad and totally changed my thinking. Since then I've been contemplating investing in single family 3bd 2bth for a rental where I have family in Bemidji, MN since it's so expensive to get started here in Seattle. Biggest obstacle is finding the capital since my budget is fairly tight being in school.
Also, Been thinking about taking out a school loan and investing my money in a higher return investment. School loan would be 6%.  Just wanted to introduce myself and get some thoughts on these two things.  Excited to be a part of this community! Thanks so much!  Blessings
