@Mark NolanThanks.

@Pat S.Thanks for the reply. I've never personally hired a sub company for a non-owned job over 30k so I've never had the need.

@Thomas FranklinThanks for the reply. Will do.

@Brandon TurnerA reply from the man himself. Er one of the men? I'm honored. Thanks, will do.

@Travis BealI love the WNC Mtns and the rapidly growing craft beer scene is a huge added bonus.

@Jim R.I'd like to stay within an hour or so of Asheville. If you have anything come up let me know. Being an Asheville native you probably already have contacts in the area but let me know if I can provide any value to you as a contractor. What I don't know I probably know somebody that does.

I'm a WNC native with a family history in construction and insurance. I got my BS in Entrepreneurship from Missouri State University and helped a friend start a construction business while there. My wife and I recently moved back to WNC and have started doing construction work. Real Estate investing is our long term investment project with an eye out for short term flips. I've listened to the podcast off and on for some time now and hopped on to see what the forums are all about. I'm a type A completionist and this little thing kept nagging me to post an intro.

John Semanchuk thanks for the reply. Just looking for general info about the market i.e. places to stay away from, Vacation Rental assumptions to make that are different than normal rentals. Figured I would try a post on here before I started shooting fish in a barrel. Just a friendly post to see what the forums are all about.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums but I had a question I thought you all might be able to answer. I have a friend/investor that is interested in a vacation rental in Charleston. I don't know anything about the market and not much about vacation rentals either tbh. Basically he has said I could have the profits if I manage it for him. So I'm curious....is the "return on my headache" worth it? I've heard mixed results about VR's.  Any places to look down there? Places to stay away from? He isn't set on one place just a "beach house." Doesn't necessarily have to be on the beach but definitely close to it.  Thoughts on vacation rentals down there?
