I am looking at approaching apartments owners and seeing if they would be interested in selling. Does anyone have any good ideas on what to say to them or ask them?

If the pipes are on a closed system (not connected to the domestic /culinary system) then you can just replace it with black steel pipe. If it is connected to the domestic supply you can replace it with copper and paint the pipes black . Or you can replace it with oxygen barrier pex pipe.

@Sean Tagge Thanks for the link. That was very helpful.

@Brian H. I was able to call some property management companies and talk to the leasing agent's. They gave me a lot of helpful information, great advice.

My wife and I are making the plunge and buying a house. My plan is to find a house that we can be rent out the basement and help pay for the mortgage. Some of the houses that fit that criteria are in Roy. My question to those who own investments in Roy, Utah is what are you seeing with rental rates, vacancies?

Thank you for the welcome. It's one of the reason's I was attracted to biggerpockets.

@Josh Bakhshi No he hasn't offered it yet, from our conversation it sounded like he wants to get rid of this property to use the equity to help with the refinance of his own home.

This week unfortunately won't work for me with the luncheon, I plan on attending one as soon as my schedule permits. Thanks again for the welcome. I look forward to learning from everyone here and offering any help I can.

My name is Jake Serdar, I have been on this site for quite some time, watching from a far. I thought it was about time I introduced myself.

I am 26 and from Utah County but moved to Ogden after I got married. I have had an interest in real estate since I was in high school. I grew up in a plumbing family so I know that side of things. I think there is no better smell than in a freshly framed house.

Last year I decided it was time to get into real estate and get my real estate license. I have a client that is looking for a house to live in and rent, and recently my landlord came to me asking if I wanted to buy the house that I live in. So figure now should be when I get into investing in real estate.

I have already learned a great deal from biggerpockets, I have sent several people here to look for investing advice. I look forward to learning even more from everyone on here and contributing what I can while I learn.
