Post: Foreign National Investor - Financing?

Hi Everyone! Newbie Investor currently living in NYC but moving back to Ireland in the next few months. I want to invest in a SFR or duplex as a buy & hold rental, and keep building from there. I have a SSN but my current work visa is expiring & I'm having trouble getting financing because I will be a foreign national shortly. I also do have a high credit score in the US if that would make a difference.

Does anyone have any experience in this field that could help me out or direct me toward places willing to lend to foreign nationals? What rates & LTV have foreign nationals experienced in the past? Also for context the property I am hoping to purchase would be somewhere in NE Ohio.

Really appreciate any help or advice you can give!

Congrats Matthew that’s really impressive! Can I ask what location you’re in? I’m also looking for a house hack, hoping to find one soon

@Basit Siddiqi

Thank you very much for that insight, great to know that ahead of time! I'll be sure to reach out if I decide to go for something in NY.

@Fahadbin Alam

I’ve read never split the difference by Chris Voss, found that one great for negotiating in general. Emotional Intelligence is pretty good too.

Hi everyone,

Currently living in queens, work in Manhattan.

We (girlfriend & I) want to buy something outside the city but within approx. 1hr commute to Manhattan.

We want to house hack but also hoping the property will appreciate nicely over the coming years.

Looking for best type of property to go for & in what location?

Looking for something under $500k if that helps
