Join Meetup.com - There are at least 4-7 in Sacramento and surrounding areas on there. It is a great resource for finding REIAs

Just got off the phone with Dennis, Thanks for the tag Rick. It turns out that he has been working on this case for sometimes and has a lot of information on the property and the court proceedings that it is going through. LOL! Small real estate investing world.

 @Gordon Cuffe:

Thank you for the reference to the website. It did not come up with the person I was looking for, therefore I could not find any relatives on there either. I did find some records of the person on Spokeo, however it did not have any relatives listed. Bummer

Thank a lot for the link! I did a control+F find and it did not have any houses on the auction list with address of the house that I am looking at. I believe they paid their last payment on July for 2011, so I am assuming it will be on next year's sale if it does not get paid.

Hello BP!

I am looking for advice from my fellow investors about acquiring a vacant SFR. I am very new to real estate investing and I was wondering if there was anyone out there that is familiar with getting vacant properties from deceased people. I found a home in Sacramento, CA in which the owner died in 2011, and the taxes have not been paid since. There is around $35,000 in liens. I am working on tracking down any heirs. If i am able to find them, and offer them a few thousand to sign over the deed to me, is there anyone who may want to help me on this deal? Or does anyone have any advice?

Thank you,

-Ian

Welcome Janessa!

I am also a new investor and I suggest you get on Meetup.com and join some groups on there and attend the local REIA meetings. I could tell you about the different meetings that I have gone to thus far.

There are quite a few REIAs (Real Estate Investing Associations) in an around Sacramento. That is where I suggest starting. I just went to a great one last night that had about 105 people in various parts of the business.

I suggest that you go to the website meetup.com, create an account and search for "real estate". Make sure to search in Sacramento and other areas like Roseville, Rocklin, and Elk Grove. The one that I went to yesterday was the Roseville meet up hosted by David Oldenburg.

Good luck,

 Both of those areas are pretty run down. South Sac. - by fruitridge, and Del Paso Heights - by 160. There is a reason why there are so many cheaper houses in those areas. If that is your thing, then go for it, I just wanted to let you know what I though about those areas.

David, I definitely have Sacramento as one of my keyword alerts, thank you for the tip. They help out a lot!

Chris, thank you for the heads up. I would really like to meet other real estate investors in my area, and that sounds like the perfect opportunity to do so.
