I understand that this is a really old thread, but how are you doing in southern Arkansas? I'm in Little Rock and have a possible deal in the works in Crossett, AR. I'm wondering what your experience has been...

Thanks, biggerpo. I just posted in that forum. =)

Post: Becoming an appraiser first

Greetings, all. I am just getting started in the whole REI thing (excited!!) and some of the people I have talked to have said that becoming a licensed realtor is a good way to learn areas and start out. I'm not a fan of that idea at all. The whole point of me going out on my own is to be more flexible and have my nights and weekends reserved for my family. The idea of tromping around town with buyers at a moment's notice 7 days a week is the opposite of appealing to me.

So that brings up the question -- would it be just as good to become an appraiser? What is the life of an appraiser like? Don't they have the same MLS access that realtors do to allow them to do their work?

If anyone is an appraiser, knows an appraiser, or just generally knows more about the profession that I do (that would be about all of you), I would love your input.

Thanks!

I haven't seen much mention of people in the central Arkansas area. Are you out there? Would anyone be interested in meeting and talking about real estate? I'm just getting started here, so any contacts would be great!

Well, I mean on this forum. I did a search for Little Rock and couldn't find anything in the forums.

Also, there is no Real Estate Investors club in central Arkansas that I can find. There's one in NW Arkansas, but it seems that if there ever was one in central AR, it has closed down.

I do know there are investors, though. There are plenty of rentals around and I met one at a foreclosure auction last week. So they're out there, I just don't know how to find them efficiently. =)

Thanks for the welcome!

Hey everyone. I've been reading this forum on and off for a couple of months. I have just moved to Little Rock and am pursuing doing real estate investing full time. I have a bit of savings which I will live off of for a bit, but I'm anxious to get started on the money-MAKING side of things. =)

There doesn't seem to be much going on in Little Rock in terms of investors, so if you know of anyone here that would be good for me to talk to, please let me know.
