Hi Qamar, I host a meet up every month in Manassas.  There are several attendees that are from Ashburn.  I'll post about it in the events section closer to the end of the month.  Looking forward to meeting you!

@Tiffany Johnson sorry you weren't able to make it yesterday!  I host this meeting once a month.  I'll post on BP in a couple of weeks when we have the next one scheduled.  Thanks and hope to see you then!

You would have to look in newspapers and online newspapers.  In Virginia they have to advertise the auction prior to the home going to auction.  They advertise them in the newspaper or what used to be the news paper...

If you are looking for true auction homes - you need to find the advertisements for them and then show up at the courthouse steps the day they go to auction. Hudhomestore.com is the website for HUD homes. Most other "auction" sites are just middle men that market the home and those homes can usually be found on the MLS too.

Hi @Joshua Wren welcome to BP!  You'll find tons of great info on here.  I run a meet up in Manassas and our next one is on the 28th of April.  There are a few people in the meet up that have rentals across state lines that could probably give you some good advice.  I am also having a lender come and speak on the 28th with some insight for financing and what's available to investors.  Sounds like it would be the perfect meeting for you to attend.  You can find it in the Events section on BP if you want more details and would like to attend.  Take care!

I have a guest speaker coming to provide tons of insight in to the financing options available for investors.  While there is a huge lack of financing options for distressed properties in  need of major repairs, Sylvia will discuss options that are available to investors.  This will be a very informative and helpful discussion for those of us who are buying rental properties that aren't in terrible condition.  Look forward to seeing you there!

Join us for a great networking opportunity at this REI meet up on Saturday April 28th at 10am. This event is totally free and no one is selling anything. It's just a place for local investors to gather and exchange ideas and information. Please comment if you are able to attend as I am providing light refreshments and I'd like to be sure to have enough for everyone. Looking forward to seeing you there!

@Candice Banks I think you will be able to rent one of the rooms fairly easily.  I lived in an apartment in Woodbridge about 12 years ago and I found a roommate on roommates.com pretty quickly.  If you need a Realtor to help you with your search, I'm happy to help!  Take care :)

@Candice Banks are you only wanting to live in DC or are you considering living in Northern Virginia too?  Because there are definitely opportunities for a 2BR condo for under $300k in Northern Virginia - you can look in Prince William County.  Prince William County is a popular area for those that commute to DC (or close to it) for work.
