Post: Foreign investment for beginner from Asia

Hi guys 

Absolute beginner here. I'm an Indian currently residing in Qatar.

I have about 40k USD to invest. And this amount I have exclusively set aside only for investment purposes in any foreign market. Is it  possible to buy property and generate rental income with that amount? 

I have zero background in real estate in general and the US is no exception. Have a few good friends in Pennsylvania and Philadelphia , and thats all my connection with US is. 

1 USD = 73.34 INR .

1 USD = 3.64 QAR

What suggestions and advises do you guys have for me?
