@Garrott Nalle I'm really impressed with all the actions steps you've already taken. I'm certain you're going to be very successful with whatever real estate avenues you decide to pursue. Keep it up. You're an inspiration!

@David Ivy, thanks for the heads up. I will take a closer look at the regulations you linked, and perhaps reconsider my location, as the rental property will not be my primary residence.

@Michael S., thanks for the warm welcome!

@Mindy Gasparek, that's great! It feels so liberating to keep only the things you love and ditch all the junk, doesn't it? Appreciate the well wishes. Best of luck to you, too!

@Garrott Nalle, I haven't yet, but I do see that there are tiny homes available on Airbnb in the Austin area, so it's working for someone! Airstreams are also on the rise. Minimalism seems to be a popular concept, especially in a context like Airbnb where you can try it out without the commitment to unloading all your stuff for good.

Hi BP! Very excited to have come across this community and network of resources. I'm devouring the podcast.

I'm a yoga student and teacher by trade and passion, with a background in marketing and advertising (first in the corporate setting, and more recently as a freelancer/entrepreneur).

I've lived in Austin, TX for the past 2 years, but my partner and I have minimized down to a suitcase and backpack each so that we can do travel the world as nomadic yoga teachers. We're planning to plant our roots in Brooklyn next, but will continue to take extended teaching tours off and on.

RE-wise, I'm most interested in generating cashflow through rental income. I'm looking into 1) buying-and-holding multifamily properties and 2) constructing tiny houses. I got my appetite whetted for RE when I put our own house (which we were renting) on Airbnb and seeing the power of STRs firsthand.

Even though Austin has already appreciated quite a bit, I think it's still a great market to get into for STRs and even traditional rental properties.

Looking forward to connecting with other like-minded real estate go-getters!
