Brian Eastman Thanks for the insight. My plan is to buy rental properties as you mentioned. I have will dig in more. I will also talk with the property manager I plan to use to get their experience with self directed IRAs. Much appreciated!

Hi I have read several posts and done my own due diligence for my self-directed IRA. I have a 401k I want to roll over so I can buy real estate with my retirement money. I have narrowed my search down to Pensco SunWest and Strata. Fees are very different. Feedback on customer service, transaction efficiency, fees (disclosed and surprise) would be appreciated. Thank you in advance! Dave

Hi,

I am traveling to Jacksonville for my W-2 job at the end of the month and would like to meet with a property manager or two to discuss potential investment opportunities.  I would appreciate any suggestions from the group rather than simply picking names randomly out of the phone book.

   Thanks!

Mark DiGioia Welcome to BP! My wife and I are in North Haven. We started in July. Let's connect soon. Jacqueline Carrington please send us info on the meet up you host in New Haven. Thanks!
Daren Judd , everybody has their opinions on this topic. My wife and I started investing in July. We went to a couple of the weekend boot camps and spent a lot of money. They gave us a good foundation but not much from a practical application perspective. We then started attending REI meetings, met a ton of people and got some great advice. We (read I) made a bunch of mistakes along the way including losing our earnest money on the first deal we attempted for a HUD house. We now own a two family with one apartment rented and are getting ready to do an open house this morning to rent the other one. My point is that you ultimately have to do it to gain the experience. Find investors in your area and take them to lunch or coffee. Talk to them about your deals and they will be more than willing to give advice. The benefit is they know the market you are working in and have connections they may share with you. Good luck!

I haven't but it sounds interesting. Especially for $39!

Hey BP!

New investor/landlord in North Haven, CT. Does anyone have contact info for the Greater New Haven Property Owners Assoc? I googled it but only found a link to a blog. The email address in the blog bounced back. Any help appreciated!
