@John Warren thanks for the insight. I am specifically looking for larger multi as well as commercial RE props. Although Chicago is my hometown, I am currently out of the country. however, I am beginning to look into possible investment opportunities in the area.

Looking for information on current Chicago Burbs Cap rates. Im looking at commercial deals in the Southwest burbs - Lemont, Lockport, Bolingbrook, Woodridge, homer glenn, etc...

@Sam Epperson, I personally found some good information on YouTube regarding syndication. What I found helped a lot in understating waterfalls, was setting up the spreadsheets from scratch. This is tedious, but helps you learn a lot about the power of excel and will help you understand how money flows in a syndication situation. I found this channel to be extremely informative -

I am currently employed FT and living abroad. I have couple properties in the States already and want to seriously increase that in 2018, specifically in multifamily or commercial properties. I'm looking for some guidance / things to look out for / reference matreials that help me make the right decisions.
