Pulling the trigger on that first investment property can be scary.  My wife and I used the 401K loan option and it has worked out great for us.  Once you have that first property, your confidence changes pretty quickly.  That was a year and a half ago for us and we have since bought two more properties and looking at a fourth right now.  Best of luck!

Great question Justin. I'm quite interested in this subject as well. Just following (the 'Follow' button doesn't want to work)
Great info...….Thanks for the feedback!

Hey Jonathan.....good to know - Thank you.

Hello - brand new to BP so this is my first post other than the 'newbie intro' so I am still familiarizing myself here. So we (my wife and I) closed on our first investment property (a duplex) two months ago. Currently self-managing the property and my question is.....how often are you (or your property mgrs.) checking up, inspecting, performing maintenance on the property? Im trying my best NOT to be the annoying landlord that is always poking around. But at the same time, I am a hands-on type of person so I am constantly wanting to go there and just work on stuff. I haven't been - but I want to. Overall the property is in pretty good shape and doesn't really need much. But I want to keep up on the 'preventive maintenance' so I'm not getting the midnight calls. Would love to hear what folks are doing. Thanks in advance! Greg
Thanks Adam - I will definitely keep that in mind. Appreciate it!
Hello Everyone. My name is Greg and I am Manufacturing Project Engineer from New Richmond, WI (just outside of the St Paul/Minneapolis area). I have a goal to retire from 'Corporate America' at 55 (5 years from now), however my 401K disagrees with that plan. So I am looking to real estate investing to help support that goal. Have actually considered real estate investing for probably the last 10 years or so but have never had the 'guts' to pull the trigger. A few years ago I took a more serious look at this and start diligently researching....books, podcasts, forums, talking with those already investing, mentor coaching, etc. During that time I read Rich Dad/Poor Dad. Great book but that was a painful eye-opener for me. Excited to say that my wife and I closed on our first investment property back in early February. Duplex with tenants already placed. So far, so good. Now I have the 'bug' and looking to keep the ball rolling. Hoping this will help us reach our retirement goals and create a healthy legacy we can leave for our kids. Looking forward to utilizing all the resources that BP has to offer. Thanks Greg PS....yes, I need to get a profile picture loaded - I will update that as soon as I can.
