Marie - you’re on your way!  The 90 Day Challenge did it for us. We stopped filling our heads and put our plan into action. You’re gonna do it and be great at it!

I haven't read all the subsequent posts yet, but well done. I personally struggle with taking the step of practicing what I've been learning - "filling [ones] heads," as you so aptly put it. I'm curious, what got you to finally take that step?

Claire - it was the 90 Day Challenge podcast honestly. If you haven’t seen it you should take a look. I was struck by a quote Brandon used regarding how much time we give ourselves to accomplish a goal. If we say it’ll take a year - it will take a year because mentally we haven’t fully engaged the process yet. Sorry that’s not more exact - at 5:15 in the morning I’m not fully coffee’d up yet.

Alex - if you fly into Anchorage - there are a couple options for great fishing.  Red & King salmon run the Chitina and Copper rivers in the mid-June range and the silvers come into the Valdez area late July through mid-August.  Out of Valdez any fishing charter that can take you into Prince William Sound for Silvers and then the next day go out into the Gulf of Alaska for halibut.  You won't be disappointed.

@Alex Price - grew up in Tiffin - NW Ohio - joined the AF and when I separated I went to work in Springfield OH for a convenience store chain you are probably familiar with in Ohio - big company.  Moved here in 2015

Anton,

Have you had more than 1 VA at a time, and if so, how did you get approval from the VA?

@Alex Price - I've been listening to the weekly podcasts for months - and every time Brandon asks for a city to do an analysis on I have Fairbanks, AK ready to go - all I have to do is hit send.  We moved here from Ohio 3 years ago and have found it to be one of the most incredible places on earth - and that includes the places I lived when in the service.  You are right about the 4 plex - it was like it was hidden from view until we were ready.

Congratulations! I cant wait to do the same thing!

Any tips?

Account Closed - no tips really. We studied, ran the numbers, walked through, made the offer. Having a son in the RE business helps a great deal - he can preview anything we want to look at and if it’s a problem we can stay away. It really came down to the analysis as Brandon T says - run the numbers, analyze the deal, and offer.

Oh and a ton of prayer!  That probably went first, middle, and last.

@ Jacob Hammond - I went through the planning meetings the Borough had on the project and there will be something like a shortage of 750 units short - making ownership of “doors” a very strong position. From the south side of Fairbanks to the base is 20-30 minutes - I live further from work than that.

It’s necessary to remember AK is not populated the same as most of the lower 48 - so a 30 minute commute is nothing traffic wise.
