Any Canadian RE investors/property managers out there willing to share any helpful hints on your tenant screening process would be highly appreciated (particularly credit score checks). Most of the content on BP that I've been able to come across is US based. Thanks for your time!

Thanks Roy! This is very helpful, and gives me some areas I can focus on looking into.

@Roy N. Thanks for the warm welcome. The complicated tax scenarios I'm curious about is investing in the US, as a Canadian. I file taxes in Canada, so looking at the US market would simply mean filing again, but I imagine that's nothing too complex for an accountant to advise on. Do you (or other Canadian investors here) have experience investing in American RE? As I don't really have a home base back in North America yet, I'm willing to be pretty flexible where I consider my primary market for investing. I really want to maximize a buy/hold/refinance or BRRRR type strategy; from my limited knowledge, I've heard US markets are more amenable to that strategy. Thanks for any advice in good markets to look at!

Hello BP community! I've been reading the forums, listening to podcasts, and taking in as much as possible to educate myself before taking the investment plunge. The community here is truly giving and open with their experience, and expertise. I've already learned so much from you.

I've lived and worked overseas for about 15 years, and have been fortunate to accrue a good amount of investment capital, and now I'm looking to put it to work in building my financial freedom. I'm very open to building partnerships, and working with teams who are already established in markets with high upside for keep and hold strategies. My initial hope was to invest in Canada to avoid complicated tax scenarios, but I know members of the BP community have had good success with cross border investing as long as it's structured correctly.

I'm looking to work at least 1 more year overseas, but I'd like to start transitioning into investing over the next 12 months if possible to do so from abroad.

I'm really excited to enter into this exciting industry, and hopefully work with some of the great real estate minds here on BP!
