I'll be traveling outside of KC until next month. I was hoping to get this info online if possible.

Looking to make an offer on a house on Monday. It has an addition on the back that I could easily make into a studio apartment for additional rent. Looking at the Kansas City, KS country site and I'm wondering how to tell if it's zoned for such a thing.

What should I look for? Where should I look for it other than the county website?

Thank you in advance!

Wow. So much great info in one thread! I'll try and sit down with a local Kansas City attorney and see about my options. More questions to come, but thank you all for this great info!

Closed on my first rental home this spring. It's been two months with renters in the property in Kansas City. I'm looking to start an LLC before my next, but I'm also out of the country about 7 months a year while I'm a resident of California.

I have family in Delaware who I see a few times a year, so I'm thinking why not?

Anyone have any experience in starting your LLC/Corp in a business friendly states such as DE or NV?

If so what are the advantages over Kansas or Missouri?

@Mindy Jensen Thank you for the welcome. My plan for now is to acquire a few different properties, single family homes, by the end of 2016. Through that process I'd like to learn and refine my business plan to build equity along with positive cash flow.

@Mike D'Arrigo Any words or wisdom or tips on where to buy are always welcome!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to learning everything I can from the BP community.

Hello fellow Bigger Picketors,
