I’m interested in my very first property. I’m going all in & selling my home to jump into a duplex. The property is currently rented out by two tenants who are month to month. I want to move into this property & rent the other half out after some repairs. However I am unfamiliar with Virginia’s laws for getting the current tenants out of the property once I purchase it.

Hey BP members, I am starting out and would like to buy my first home within the next year. I would like to buy a duplex or triplex with a FHA or USDA loan because of the low down payment options that they provide. I would like to live in it for a year or two and then buy a SFH. Although, I have no idea on how to find a duplex in the Northern Virginia area. As in how do I sort through all the other homes like on zillow and trullia? Thanks, Gilbert

Hi guys im Gilbert, I've been married for 1 year and just turned 21. I have a full time job as a Systems administrator and go to school part time. My wife is working part time and is in school to become a nurse. I am interested in getting into real estate, I like the Northern Virginia area but it is much too expensive to buy, but my family lives south of Houston and houses are dirt cheap. I want to begin buying homes and rent them out, so I have joined BP to help me with my goals. If anyone has any advice let me know. Thanks! Looking forward this journey.
