That does help a lot Aaron. I was starting to question if I just walked into something I'll regret.

Denice thank you for the information! So far he has been the only one to respond after I send out the application but that would be my plan as it would save me a lot of time!

Wow thanks for the quick help everyone! I do have an alarm system but I am still worried about people off craigslist.

I finally listed my house for rent on craigslist and got a couple of responses. There is one that seems a little off to me. I don't really want to give anyone my address until I have some information on them and know that they can afford the rent.

I sent him a rental application to fill out and his response was that he would rather do it in person. So I asked him to meet at a starbucks 5 minutes from the house and after filling out the application we can go see the house. The answer I got was "you want me to fill out an application at subway I was thinking of bringing cash guy I own six food trucks in the city"

No I didn't miss any punctuation's there. How would you respond to this?

@Matthew Kreitzer I don't want to sue. Just trying to see if there is any good arguing cases or opinions on this.

Haha thank you Ken. I'm learning the hard way. Just trying to figure out what the right outcome is. When we started this he actually stated verbally the money would stay with the house if one of us left but he is now denying that.

My brother and I decided to buy a house together 3 years ago. Our plan was to keep it as our primary residence for 5-10 years. We opened a joint account to pay for all our house expenses. Each month we contributed 50/50 and accounted for mortgage, insurance, utilities, and maintenance. The house has been great and did not need any major maintenance.

Now he is getting married in September and buying another house with his wife. I was forced to refinance and buy him out early. He is currently renting from me until his closing at the end of the month. He believes that our house account should be split.

My idea was the house account is our insurance policy in case something went wrong and that money should stay with the house. How should I handle this.

@Brent Coombs, Hmm maybe I'm looking at this incorrectly. My idea was to HELOC my current home at around 80% which should give me about 28k. Use that 28k as the down payment on a 113k mortgage. Then take the excess 44k for reno. Refi after reno with a est. value of 150k but for a 141k loan and take the excess back to pay off the HELOC.

Thank you for helping me out but does this sound wrong?

Here is my situation.  I own a home est. value is 315k and owe 224k with 4% interest. I found a short sale triplex in the area I am interested in.

They are asking 69k, taxes are 3800, comps are around 150k. Looks like it needs TLC. I have about 15-20k for down payment but I'm also thinking about the equity I already have. I'm thinking to BRRR this property but feel like there are a lot of moving parts.

I figured using 20 bucks a square foot for a reno is about 44k. That would put me at about 113k for a loan. Refinance at 150k ARV and take out what I put in. Any ideas or guidance for me? Thanks!
