The Syracuse area is really fascinating to me -I think primarily because of how much cheaper it is than NJ. My girlfriend is a grad student at SU and everytime I go up I'm constantly driving around looking at properties. Have you thought about investing around the university? I'm strongly considering starting my investments there instead of NJ.

Hello everyone, I'm an extreme novice and am here to gain as much information as possible.

I'm two years out of college and own a residential painting company (I'm scared of a real job). My business has really motivated me to eventually invest in real estate, particularly rehabbing, as I have the resources (employees/knowledge of work) to take on such projects.

As finances are a factor, I'm also considering buying and fixing while living in the house. I'm a renter now and would bring my current roommate, as he would rent a room from me. (note that I have no pending deals, it's just my vision of starting)

I've been lurking on the boards non-stop the last two days (that’s when I found this place) and am even more of a rookie than I thought. Being in northern NJ (where a garage is 200k) and first timer with limited funds is incredibly discouraging.

I'm here to be a spounge.
