Interesting conundrum, I'm curious to see how this plays out.

Great question @Karen Margrave , it appears to be govt sponsored, in order to start generating taxes from the sold lots.

@Erik Pedersen yes it is for couples who plan to live there for at least five years. Fiancé and I are discussing it...concerned that the nabes these are in are just shot to crap, tho.

Hey all!

Who is washing dishes and checking their BP inbox?

So I been made aware of a program in Newark that allows you to buy a plot of land for $1K...but you have to prove you have financing in place to pay for new construction and have the job started completed within 18 months of purchasing the deed.

Is this a good avenue to go down? Have others taken part in similar auctions? How much would new construction of say a two or three family home cost, round about? Would FHA loans apply?

I'll do my best to respond to all comments and thanks again :-)

register link isn't working (ya'll knew that already) by I definitely would like to attend!

Hey @Account Closed

we are looking for MF properties in Bayonne, Jersey City, Hoboken, and Weehawken. I definitely feel like we need to build up our emergency savings beyond just a month of salary (I work as an IT contractor and my fiance is a photographer), Guess I was hoping to jump into the game as soon as possible.

Do you do alot of deals in this area? Looking forward to learning from a seasoned investor...and if you need any IT support, I can definitely help :-)

Purchased, looking forward to reading this during my lunch break!

Thanks for the tip @Elizabeth Colegrove we don't have any property, in either of our families, that we can just turn over to rentals, but it we'll keep looking. BTW, really enjoyed perusing your site, some tips I can definitely put into practice ASAP!
