Hi Katie,

I'm also a Real Estate investor who lives in the Dallas area.   I congratulate you for your interest in becoming a real estate investor.  I have been doing fix and flips and rentals for about 5 years after a 20 year career as an engineer.   I retired from engineering and now do real estate exclusively.   I have found biggerpockets to be a wealth of information for both beginners and seasoned investors.   Tons of great learning.   My advice is to listen to the podcasts and connect with as many investors you can here in the Dallas area.  There are many RE investment clubs.  Feel free to contact me if you would like to learn about them or even discuss your goals.   Perhaps I can share some of my experience and learning with you.  Good Luck

Guys, thanks for the quick replys...

Brian, where is the sink drain in your picture?

My county does not allow the use of an air admittance valve thus I've got to figure out how to do this island vent configuration.

A few weeks ago i posted a question to you about how to configure a drain and vent plumbing for a sink in a island in the middle of the kitchen. I'm looking to understand the "loopback techique". You emailed back and said you would get back to me with some sketches or drawings, but it's now been 2-3 weeks so I thought I would re-ask the question. Please advise. thanks Fred

Thanks David,

I installed an island kitchen sink and have no room to put in a vent for the drain. Local code won't allow an air admittance valve under the sink. I've been told to run a loop back from above the p-trap back to the drain line 5 ft or more away. Are you familiar with this technique? Do I need to run the loop back to a vent or back to the drain line?
