Hello everyone,

I'm curious as to how far away my first property should be. I live in a very expensive area and the average house costs around 300k. In looking for my first rental property, I am curious as to how far away it should be. I have a friend who lives here in Portland OR but bought a rental all the way in Pittsburgh. Is this a wise thing to do? He is using a property manager.

What price range do you all typically look for? It seems like most investors go for lower priced properties.

Thanks in advance for any knowledge and advice!

Hello everyone,

Been a part of this community since 2014 but I'm just now in a position to start looking for my first rental property. I live and work in the Portland area and I'm hoping to acquire my first home in the next 12 months. My goal is to move into a conversion camper van to get out of paying rent, save all the money I can and start buying properties to hold and rent out. Sounds extreme but this is something I am willing to do to win this game. I work as a software engineer and I have a great salary so I should be able to get started quickly. This is where I am at. I am looking to make connections, ask a lot of questions and get the ball rolling on this journey.

Looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me.

Reed

Hello, I am an aspiring Real Estate Investor. I currently live North of Seattle but I am looking at markets all over, especially Spokane area. I need all the help and advice I can get and I am looking for professionals who are willing to share some knowledge. I am looking to buy, do some light repairs and rent out. Not quite into the flipping process (maybe later down the road).
