All I did was buy Conoco-Phillips (COP) 13 shares.
AIG that's kind of risky.

Josh - do you move your trade daily?
I am not a stock guru by any means and now I am thinking throwing $500 is a waste - you can't get crap for $500.

I am throwing some $ into the market (not much) but just curious on what you guys are buying right now.
I am only throwing $500 in an AmeriTrade account - just wanting to know suggestions.
I thought about going off the cart and buying GM, Winnebago and maybe some Harley. But a firend that does this for a living is saying Verizon, Exxon-Mobile.

A HUD home that was bought two years ago for $90k went up on the market a month ago. They were asking $50k and a friend of mine got it for $35k right away.
I am looking at one today with mold (but what home doesn't have mold lol!) and they are asking $53k - small yard, nice area, but needs lots of work. I might go in at $30k and if I get it that's great.
We are not emotionally attached to any of the houses so if we get it then great, if not there's a lot more out there! I don't know if that's the way to look at it or not but who knows.

I am from Iowa and in the area that we are buying foreclosures... HUD homes are popping up left and right. I understand the for the first 10 days that anyone that would be occupying the home would get a head start and then investors can check it out and bid. (I don't know if this is the case all over but in Iowa that's the case).
My question is if a HUD home listing price is at $53k what would the lowest price you could see it going for. Obviously if it's going to sell quick I would do my top bid but what about if I want to play around and see what I could get it for?

We put the offer in on the 13th of February. Last Friday on the 20th Country Wide called the agent and requested all the paperwork I signed. They have not gotten back to us yet, but I know this is a slow process, but if they were totally not interested in my offer I don't know why they would ask for all the paperwork.
I did an earnest check of $10k and they only required $1,000 - I thought this would show them we are serious (Might be wrong but who knows). It is also listed that we are paying cash - don't know if this helps or not.
So Country Wide is hard to deal with... great!

We are willing to go up to $46k - it's all remdeled, need some painting and some misc. est. expense $1k.
You could turn it around and sell it for $75k and get it.

So what do you think Nick - on what we are going to do with a $35k offer on a listing that's at 99k now.

We have been buying real estate but we are making an offer on our first short sale and I am not familiar with short sales and I know every house and market is different but I was wondering what % do you usually go in on a short sale... meaning if a house is listed at $100k what would your low ball offer be?
There's a house we are making an offer on today. They had it listed at $112k (DOM 120), reduced to $99k this past week not 1 offern since it's been on the market. (I found out they owe Country Wide $98k). There's no way it's worth $98k probably $60k but we want to low ball it and go in at $35k - is this stupid?
