I have been a General Contractor for 40 years in California. I am intend to retire in 3 years and would like to begin purchasing single family homes in the Dallas area for rentals. Can I qualify as a Real Estate Professional and deduct all losses from my W-2 income?

I am a Calif General Contractor. I am approaching retirement in 3 years and want to buy rental properties to offset my W2 income. Is this possible with individual LLC's?
