Thank you all for the feedback! I have downloaded the UBG and have begun reading it, I've also listened to many of the BP podcasts already which have been so informative and motivational. I listened to BP podcast #11 on the UBG, which demystified the process of starting out. The site and podcasts are such great resources, I am happy to have found you BiggerPockets!

I am interested in buying in the NY tri-state area. My purchase has to be my primary residence which needs to be close to NYC where I work. I'm in the process of scoping out nearby towns. Ideally I want a duplex but I am also open to a single family home.

So far I've read Rich Dad Poor Dad, listened to many BP podcasts and I am inspired and can't wait to "pull the trigger" the most intense three words for me right now! I'm attending a Rich Dad Poor Dad workshop in the NYC area tomorrow, I have a plus one if you're interested Eva Marin. It would be a good way to meet and talk more, let me know.

My reading list is long; after hearing the podcasts I'd like to read some of the books by Karen Rittenhouse (BP podcast #02). If you can guide me as to which you think maybe the next thing for me to read, please let me know.

Hello everyone,

My name is Sofia and I'm hoping to get educated on the real estate market. I have always been interested in RE investing since I saw Carlton Sheet's infomercial when I was in high school. I came to Bigger Pockets via the podcast on iTunes, I was searching for a tool to get myself educated on RE investing. I am interested in buying a duplex, live in one unit and rent out the other unit to start.

I currently work in the publishing field on the production end of printing. I am also into graphic design and a creative type.

Any words of advice for a newbie like me are greatly appreciated.
