Hey Steve! It’s difficult to buy here with the prices as high as they are. I was thinking of looking in Alamance county (NC) or upstate NY for rental properties. Once I have enough of a portfolio I would love to get into commercial real estate.

Thanks @Aqil Dharamsey ! I’m definitely interested in rental properties in the Rochester area. I’d love to chat with you about it.

Thanks, Michael! Just started reading it!  I’m interested in starting off with rental properties (5 units or less) and working my way up to commercial property. “The book on investing in real estate with no (and low) money down” has already been so helpful and I haven’t even finished it!

If there is anything I can do for members that need advice with land use and zoning matters, I’d be glad to help!

@Mark Holencik I think he meant should he get a real estate agent license in the state he is looking to invest in. @Lulli Debrosse is that correct?

Hi BP members! I’ve been a member of BP for a while now but have finally said enough is enough, it’s time to invest. I am currently a land use and zoning attorney in New York and have always had a passion for real estate investing. I just always felt that I didn’t have the money necessary to get started (I have enormous amounts of student loan debt). I hope to be able to network with some of you great members and help in any way I can. I am familiar with Long Island (I know it’s very difficult to invest here), upstate New York, North Carolina, and Virginia, and I would like to start my real estate investment path in one of those areas. Thanks for reading and thank you to BiggerPockets for providing so much amazing and helpful information! Erik
