Hi BP Community, I live in Kelowna, British Columbia and recently passed my BC Mortgage Broker exam. I'm 29 years old own a Househack. I'm currently employed as a General Manager in the Tourism Industry but looking to make the transition to becoming a full time Mortgage Broker this Winter. I have few questions as I try to navigate the industry and become successful in this new field.

  1. 1. What is the best way to get started in the industry?
  2. 2. What is the best way to get hired onto a brokerage?
  3. 3. What should I look for in a brokerage?
  4. 4. If you're a Broker, what has been your mortgage broker journey?
  5. 5. If I wanted to be successful in the industry what advice would you give me?

I appreciate any advice in advance!

Downside to FollowupBoss would be price (it's on the pricier side compared to Chime, or any of the other newer general CRMs that have entered the space over the past year or three), and the fact that it is branded specifically for real estate agents and lenders.  it's not restricted to agents and lenders, but that is certainly the target application (which I find works well here)

Thanks Will. I just checked it out and can see how it is good for agents and putting people into the sales funnel. Thanks for your input!

As much as I'd like to think I'm good at reaching out to my networking and staying up to date, I'm really bad at it. So I want a way that will remind me to stay in touch or reach out to an old connection to see how they are doing and the struggles they are having?

Does anyone have a good CRM that they like using? What are the Pros and Cons to the CRM you're recommending.

Stay Safe,

Eric Wilson from Kelowna, BC

@Steve Davis

Hi Steven. Great to hear more interest in the Kelowna market!

I own a buy and hold single family here in Central Kelowna and I work for a contracting company that does residential and commercial.

Kelowna is estimated to grow by 50,000 people in the next 20 years which it’s about 130,000 right which is a substantial increase. Currently has the 7th highest rent in Canada.

Simply said Kelowna is a place people want to live. Either from other countries or other provinces and is the biggest city between Vancouver and Calgary with a strong economy.

I’m looking to grow my portfolio here if you’d like to connect.

@Yaro Naftulyev

Hey Yaro, it’s super exciting you’re now in the community!

I live in Kelowna BC and own a single family here but I’m always looking to invest in other areas in BC. If you have questions about Kelowna I’ve done lots of research in this market. I also work for a contracting company as a carpenter

I look forward to building a relationship together!
