Post: 203(k) loans. Good idea or Bad idea?

Hello everyone.

I'm looking to buy a house (and live in it) in Discovery Bay, CA. I'm interested in FHA 203k, however one of my lenders said it can get very messy and potentially cost more time and money than if I do the rehab with cash.

Anyone have experience with a 203k in the Bay Area? Or in general.

Good idea or no?

Any lenders interested in working with me?

Cost is around $600-700k

Thanks!

@Marc Rice

Wow, that’s exactly what I’ve been searching for. I’d love to see the map. I haven’t considered Columbus OH yet, I will now.

Thank you!

@JD Martin

Makes sense to me. Thank you!

I’m looking at long distance. Same idea? Discuss with local REA and PM?

One thing I’m struggling with is finding the right neighborhood to invest in. Or when I find a property, confirming if the neighborhood is decent enough.

Any tips?

Thank you!

Hi All!

Anyone have experience with the Phoenix area and have experience with the Encanto neighborhood?

The rent prices look good however all signs point to a C neighborhood.

Any input is appreciated
