I live in Lakewood myself and I have read other Clevelanders here that have lived here as well. Its a very nice cozy city, that prides itself on small businesses along Madison and Detroit.

I personally think East of Bunts, you will see Cleveland creeping in to Lakewood. The crime stats show that (if you disregard the bar complexes on the other side of town).

This city would be the best multifamily city except the taxes (majority of it goes to the school systems).

You asked about vacancies, there is a ton of competition from apartment buildings to many other multifamily houses.

Other things to look for, old knob and tube wiring, asbestos and lead, these buildings are old...

Nice site, James I see your stuff around town, nice placements.

Cleveland (west side) sure has a ton of potential!

I am looking for Cleveland partners, and will have my home inspection certification soon (within a month).

Have you found any rehabs yet?

I found a great one on the West side.

Btw, Love the Fire Fighter's Credit Union if you have had the chance to interact with them.

Thank you,

p.s. Brian Jones, I used to live in OB San Diego, loved the place, much better than Cleveland weather!

Hello Everyone!

This is my first post. My investment strategy is to acquire multifamily buildings and bank on the cash flow to acquire more multifamily buildings.

My question is, I have no idea what I am looking at. And I remember reading on an intro guide from Bigger Pockets that buying a property at the right price is how you will make money in this business.

So is it in my best interest to go through a home inspection course to better understand housing structures so that I can spot a good deal when I come across one?

If you do believe that's a good idea, do you have any courses that you would recommend?

Thank you again for any assistance!
