Post: section 8 tenants leaving

Any section 8 landlords or tenants here? I gave my tenants a notice to vacate but the property manager told me that CMHA is saying that my tenants have to fill out eviction paperwork. Anyone here in a similar situation?

I have a 2 bed 1 bath in North Linden single family home, with a yard, in the 43224 area. How much rent can I get for that area? I wanted to get an idea, right now I know I'm charging under market rent, but I'd like to get a range here.

I had inherited the tenant from the previous owner, and now they are nothing but trouble. They are threatening to sue me over maintenance issues, which I have tried to address with my property manager. They are not cooperating now and threatened to sue me in civil rights court in Columbus. I do live in California, any suggestions for landlord-tenant lawyers (preferably flat fee). Does civil rights court allow a remote appearance? Has any out of state investor here dealt with bad tenants in Columbus?

I live in California but own a rental in Columbus OH, do I need to report my total federal taxable income? Or will I only need to report my Columbus rental income on my Columbus city tax?

Following this threat.

@Keith Gilbey I read your older post. Did Ohio end up taxing you only on the rental income in Ohio? I also live in California. I didn't put my rental into a LLC.

I'd be more than happy to do an introduction to my cpa, he lives here in Columbus and has a ton of other real estate investor clients like myself!

Yes please, could you please send his information to me? Thank you!

Hi all,

I'm from California and just closed on my first investment property in Columbus. It shouldn't come off as a surprise that I got a property in North Linden, as you all know how hot Linden is right now.

I'm looking to learn more about the market and I'd like to connect with more people who are investing in Columbus. I've gathered a lot of knowledge about the market and built up enough confidence to invest out of state. Though, I haven't seen a post that focuses only on the "secrets" and gems of Columbus.

Does anyone have any insider, local knowledge of Columbus in terms of real estate investing? What advice would be valuable for a person not from the area?

Let's learn together.

Andy

I know this post is old, but how is the investment property going. I'm closing on my first investment property in North Linden too, it is in 43224 area code, near Kenlawn Park. which property management company do you recommend? i currently have tenants in there, did your property also have tenants in there? What do you think is fair market rent for 2 bed 1 bath? Please feel free to post here or PM me.
