Lisa Lynes is my go to Realtor, especially in the Iowa City area.  She is very familiar with the rental, housing, and commercial markets.  If she isn't able to help you show the property herself, I'm betting she'll have a good contact for you to try.

I'd suggest giving her a call.  PM me for her contact info.

@Jesse Carlson send me a private message with a good contact method and we can set something up.  If anyone else in the area sees this, feel free to chime in if you want to meet up.  All experience levels welcome!

Welcome! Glad to see more people in the Iowa City area getting on BP. I would enjoy chatting with another local investor and give you some great contacts I've made in the area. Let me know!

@Samantha N. @Tanner Duncan

Glad to see some folks on here in my local area. I've been listening the the BP podcasts for a little over a year now. So if you are just getting started, those are a perfect place to get some great info. I'm hoping to attend one of these local-ish REI meetups one of these days as well.

Stay Warm!

Hey everyone!

Glad too see some new folks on BP interested in the Iowa City area.  Life has kept me off the site for a while, but in the mean time I picked up a home for myself this time while doing a little house hacking to cover a portion of the mortgage.  Working great so far!

So at this rate I'm getting 1 new property every 1-1.5 years.  I'd like to keep that pace and increase it over time.  I've got a lot of irons in the fire already, but I'd be game for a meetup if anyone ever wants to chat in the Iowa City area.  Always looking to network.

Also, I have a fantastic, no non-sense, well verse realtor friend that I trust completely.  Her name is Lisa Lynes from Ruhl & Ruhl.  I know she has a very wide area where she works ranging from at least the Quad Cities, Iowa City/Cedar Rapids Cooridor, and south of Iowa City.  She is very fluent with curent rental market; new construction and existing structures. Just let her know I sent you her way.

Happy Holidays!

David-

I haven't been really active on the site for a while just because life has gotten busy. I'd be more than happy to meet up with some folks to talk about REI in the Iowa City(ish) area. This is a really busy time of year for me, but I can always try to squeeze something in.

@Adam Rees

I might have some free-time this weekend, I'm meeting up with another local investor friend sometime in the next couple days as well. I'll send you a text here soon.

@Kyle Patrick

Nice hearing from another U of I alum! Are you started investing out in the DC area yet??  As far as what I'd like to do here is to just keep growing my portfolio. I'm OK with renting to students as long as I get good background checks done.  I'm also a fairly good judge of character and it helps that I'm on as reserve sheriff deputy.  I think that might ward off some of those worried about getting caught doing illegal activities! :)

I'm not specifically targeting undergrad students, I'd love to get some long term tenants like grad students or even faculty/staff for the school or hospital.  I currently have tenants on one side of my duplex that have been living there for 3 years, the other side I'm hoping I can keep them for that long as well.  We'll see!

I'd like to continue getting multi's and possibly living on one side if it will work for my needs.  I'm currently still renting myself and I'd like to get away from that if the numbers work.

@Adam Rees@Tyler Ebnet

I'm all for meeting up with people. I am really big on coffee! My free-time is a big sporadic, but we can make something work.

@Matthew Pinkston

I'm currently figuring out the finance side of my next deal. I made the mistake of finding a property first and figuring the financing out later for my first deal, thankfully it worked itself out. That was something I learned about here on BP. Like I said, I am still pretty green when it comes to REI and that's why I'm here.
